Everything looks so perfect in Oman and still. You mostly can see this Omani men walking around in their wonderful white dresses just moving from the breeze coming from the sea. And where are the women? mainly they are hidden in their black cover and only at home you can appreciate their nice colorful dresses and their beauty. So, that's the first image I had from this country, a simple, cleaned division between white and black, a dialogue not so easy but, when you accept it, this 'Portrait of Oman' become a full landscape with its horizont, its strong dark land full of richness, and its white sky, wonderful, empty and large, full of movement and emotions.

Ogni cosa appare perfetta e immobile in Oman. Soprattutto si vedono gli Omani uomini girare con le loro splendide tuniche bianche appena mosse dalla brezza del mare. E dove stanno le donne? In genere se ne stanno nascoste sotto un mantello nero e solo a casa mostrano la loro bellezza e i vestiti colorati. Questa è stata la prima impressione che ho ricavato dia questa terra, una semplice e chiara divisione tra bianco e nero, un dialogo non facile ma, quando l'accetti, questo 'Ritratto dell'Oman' diventa un Paesaggio pieno, con il suo orizzonte, la sua forte terra nera piena di energia e ricchezza, e il suo largo cielo, splendido, vuoto ma pieno di movimento e di emozioni.
